Keeping a Roof Over Our Heads

We have recently learned that our iconic Tabernacle is in desperate need of a new roof!

Built out of white pine timber from the camp property in 1947, the Tabernacle has been central to our ministry at Stayner for over 60 years!  It has been home to chapel services, inter-church Sundays, games, crafts, variety shows, baptisms, concerts, weddings, huge crowds of youth at Pitch & Praise and JR Pitch, and more!  We estimate that over 200,000 people have joined us in the Tabernacle over the years, and that number continues to grow each year

Work to replace the tabernacle roof has been schedule to take place from September 28th to October 3rd. We need your help in three areas:

  1. We need several volunteers with valid Working at Heights certification to help unload shingles on September 25, as well as help on the roof during the week of September 28.  Come for part of or the whole week.
  2. We need additional volunteers for on the ground to help with shingle cleanup and material supply for those working on the roof.  Come for part of or the whole week.
  3. We need your financial help. You can sponsor a shingle bundle for $50 per bundle. Sponsorship of 270 bundles will completely cover the material costs of the project. We are nowhere near our goal at this time.

If you are able to volunteer your time and/or skills for this project please contact James Marshall at: 519-835-5264 or 519-823-8517

If you would like to sponsor one or more bundles, you can contact us at 705-428-3504 or [email protected].  You can also visit our Donations Page, or send an e-transfer to: [email protected]

Update: Thanks so much to everyone who volunteered their time and finances to complete this project in a short amount of time!
